Practical part
The course will
take place in Kraków and partly online. Instead of collecting data empirically,
you will carry-out systematic review of the literature of your interest.
Systematic review is the first step of meta-analysis, but does not have to
end-up with statistical analyses of the effects sizes. Instead, you would stop
at the point of coding the selected aspects of the full-texts
We will work on modified
Biology Letters format.
Grant-writing part
Active training based on the own ideas of doctoral
students in the field of evolutionary biology, ecology and environmental
biology. The course is devoted to preparing research projects:

Formulating
research hypotheses;
·
Planning of
experiments;
·
Designing and
justifying the budget;
·
Writing a
review of the project;
·
Presenting and
defending the project.
We will work on modified PRELUDIUM forms.
How to get
there?
There is no direct bus from Kraków. You can take a bus
from Nowy Targ. From the center of Ochotnica Górna, after passing the church turn right into a narrow
asphalt road, running along the Jaszcze stream. The
Field Station is ca. 2 km away (N49 31’20.32, E20 13’19.33). You can aslo ask for Mr. Marian Krzyśko,
the housekeeper.
How to prepare
yourself?
Read Fudge 2014. Prepare a
short oral presentation of your research interests/achievements and experience
with conducting research projects. It is highly advisable to bring your own
laptop. Please bring field clothes (e.g. rubber
boots are highly advisable).

What to expect?
