About the Workshop

Course structure

The classes are facultative and consist of two independent courses, equivalent to 2 ECTS each part. You can take the parts in any order, or take only one.

Location: University Field Station, Ochotnica Górna  ·  Duration: 6 consecutive days

Active training based on the doctoral students' own ideas in the field of evolutionary biology, ecology and environmental biology. The course is devoted to preparing research projects:

• formulating research hypotheses
• planning of experiments
• designing and justifying the budget
• writing a review of the project
• presenting and defending the project

Location: Kraków  ·  Duration: spans over one month, with meetings at the beginning and end of the course — several meetings totaling 6 days

Active training based on the doctoral students' own ideas in the field of evolutionary biology, ecology and environmental biology, devoted to the practical aspects of conducting a systematic search of literature on a selected topic:

• formulating aims
• planning the systematic search
• performing the search and analysing results
• writing the report according to scientific publication standards
• writing a review according to peer-review standards
• presenting results

Costs

The cost of accommodation at the Field Station is settled through within-faculty transactions. Students cover the costs of travel and food — you can ask your supervisor about covering these costs.

Assessment

To receive a positive score, participants need to:

• participate in the entire course
• present ideas and actively participate in preparing the project or systematic review
• actively conduct the research, where required
• present results as an oral presentation and a written report
• actively discuss the results of other students
